Women's Basketball Downs Salem

Posted by CoachPMcGinnis on Sunday, January 10, 2010

It had been since December 10 when the Lady Battlers last took the floor in action. They beat Central State on the road by a score 59-45 and the Lady Battlers picked right up where they left off as they took down Salem International.
The first half showed both teams getting off to a slow start but relentless defense from A-B put them ahead early and they never saw themselves in a deficit. A-B allowed Salem to tie it up on two occasions in the first ten minutes of action but it would not be enough to bring down Coach Josh Allen's team.
At the end of the first half the Lady Battlers found themselves on top 27-18 as they held Salem to just 28 percent shooting in the half. As the second half started up A-B wasted no time in pushing the lead to double digits and the defensive pressure on Salem was amped up even more.
A-B would find themselves up by as many as 25 in the second half. Salem connected on only 4-30 shooting for a less than stellar 13 percent.
A-B was lead in scoring by Senior Caitlyn Brown with ten points and Senior Lauren Reed was close behind with nine points to help im prove their record to 3-5 on the year. Tori Charley, another senior for A-B contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Josh Allen will lead A-B on January 11 to take on the Lady Fightin' Scots of Ohio Valley University as A-B goes for their third consecutive victory.
