The Lady Battlers of Alderson-Broaddus College won their third consecutive game against Ohio Valley University on Jan. 11.
In the first half of action A-B got jumped out to an early lead but had to fight off the Fightin' Lady Scots on several occasions to maintain their lead. However OVU could not slow down Freshman Amanda Peoples as she caught fire around the midway point in the first half as she connected on four three pointers and she was 5-9 from the floor overall for 15 points in opening 20 minutes. Senior Tori Charley also had a strong first half as she went 4-5 shooting for 8 points. This helped A-B go into the half with a 39-28 lead.
In the second half it was another Amanda that started to catch fire from deep as it was Amanda Harris this time as she connected on 3-5 from deep. Just like in the first half OVU could not piece together a run to overcome the Lady Battler lead. As a result A-B eventually pulled away and pulled out a 75-57 victory.
Peoples ended up leading all scorers with 17 points. Harris scored 13 of her 15 in the second half and Charley ended up wtih 12 points to go along with seven boards. Freshman Cayla Rhodes pulled down an impressive 12 rebounds in her first collegiate start.
