A-B Women Suffer Tough Loss To Shepherd

In recent action the Lady Battlers dropped their first contest in the new year at home to the Lady Rams of Shepherd University.
A-B couldn't overcome a slow start in the first half as Shepherd cranked up the defense and shot lights out. A-B was held to just 8-32 shooting for 25 percent to whereas Shepherd shot 16-27 for a blistering 59 percent. As the buzzer sounded Shepherd went to the locker room with a comfortable 36-18 lead.
Amanda Peoples, a freshman from Morgantown, WV lead the Lady Battlers with seven points at intermission while Camille Wilmer of Shepherd led all scorers at half with 12 points.
In the second half A-B got things rolling but it was to late as they could never overcome the halftime deficit but did outscore the Lady Rams 38-33 in the second stanza. They also improved their shooting percentage to an impressive 50 percent as Shepherd shot again an impressive 46 percent. The game ended with a 69-55 Shepherd victory.
Peoples was the lone Battler in double digits as she ended up with 12 points. Senior Tori Charley, from Cross Lanes, WV, had a solid effort with six points and a team leading six rebounds.
Wilmer would post the points as she ended up with 17 on 8-11 shooting.
On Saturday A-B will travel to University of Pitt.-Johnstown for an afternoon game at 1. The game will be on 91.3FM WQAB and will also a webcast will be available on www.ab.edu/gameday.
