Game 4 - Montreat 5, A-B 4 (8inn)
Gaffney, SC -- The Alderson-Broaddus Lady Battlers got the bats going but lost a heartbreaker in extra innings, 5-4 to Montreat.

A-B would jump on the board early with two runs in the top of the first.  With one out, Haley Mullens would single and then move to 3rd on a double to center field by Kelly Lauterbach.   Both runners would score as Kat Powell followed with a double to center.

However the lead was short lived as Montreat followed with four runs in the bottom half of the 1st inning.

A-B would get a run back in the 3rd as Lauterbach would lead off with a single, move to 2nd base on a passed ball and then score on a Cooper single to center, to make it 4-3.   The Lady Battlers would tie the score in the 7th as Mullen would reach on a walk and then score on a Lauterbach fielder's choice.

However Montreat would pick up the win in the bottom half of the 8th inning as they would get a two out infield single to plate the winning run.

Coach Long's Thoughts:

"I'm very optimistic we are going to get the bats going.  We faced some very good pitching this weekend.  As we get outside more often and face opposing pitching, the hits will come.."
" I think our pitchers pitched extremely well.  Its very tough to play flawless defense in February, especially seeing the field for the first time. "
