Philippi, WV -- The Alderson-Broaddus Men's Basketball team must have gotten an idea or two about starting strong after watching the UC Lady Eagles in the opener of the WVIAC basketball doubleheader at Rex Pyles Arena.

After watching the UC Women jump out to a 29-4 lead against the Lady Battlers in the opener, the Battlers jumped out to a 16-0 lead to start the game as they were able to avenge their early season loss to the Golden Eagles, 98-88.  With the win the Battlers improve to 18-5 Overall and 14-4 in the WVIAC.

Jamar Board and Carl Buck paced A-B with 26 points each.  The 26 points for Buck is a new career high. Terrell Eargle added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists.  Mark Summerfield added a strong 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by 22 points from Valdosta State and Cleveland State transfer Bahaadar Russell.  Jonathan Liggins, the brother of former A-B standout Sam Liggins, added 18 points for UC as they fell to 15-8 Overall and 13-5 in the WVIAC.

Both teams shot the ball well (UC - 54% and A-B -53%) and did a solid job of taking care of the basketball as UC had seven turnovers and the Battlers had 12.

Coach Zimmerman's squad held a massive lead on the boards, outrebounding the taller UC squard 40-22.
