Lady Battlers Use Big Lead to Get Past Bluefield State

Philippi, WV --- The Lady Battlers used a huge 1st half run to break open a close contest and cruise to a 75-44 victory over visiting Bluefield State College.  Cayla Rhodes paced A-B with a game high 16 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench as A-B improved 7-14 Overall and 5-11 in the WVIAC.  Tori Charley and Amanda Peoples each added seven points for Alderson-Broaddus as they saw 12 players score including five players with six points each.
The Lady Blues were led by Angelica Kimbrough’s 16 points and Kelly Pawlowski added 12. With the lose BSC drops to 1-21 Overall and 1-16 in WVIAC play.
Leading 23-12, the Lady Battlers reeled off a 15-0 spurt to stretch the lead to 38-12 with 55 seconds remaining in the half.  The run would be jumped started by a 3-pointer and a layup from Amanda Peoples. 
The second half continued to be much like the end of the 1st half as A-B would push they lead to as high as 34 before settling on the 31 point margin of victory.  
For the game the A-B shot an impressive 47% from the field and connected on 11-24 for 45.8% from behind the arc. 
The Lady Battlers held a plus 18 rebound margin (46-28) and a plus 1 margin in turnovers (17-18).
Coach Allen’s squad will return to action this Monday as they travel to Institute, WV to take on the red hot Lady Yellow Jackets of WV State University.   Tipoff is slated for 5:30 pm.
