(Philippi, WV) --- Despite playing down a man for much of the 2nd half and both overtime periods, the A-B Men's Soccer was able to defeat WVU-Tech 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Alderson-Broaddus broke the scoreless deadlock in the 107th minute as Robbie Stewart's corner kick deflected off Hieko Voss and finally found the back of the net thanks to Paul Ogedegbe. The game winning goal is Ogedegbe's first on the season, as Paul was playing in just his 2nd match of the season.

The opening half saw a pretty even contest as the Golden Bears out shot A-B (2-4 Overall, 0-2 WVIAC) 7-4 and both teams each earned four corner kicks.

The same could not be said for the 2nd frame as possession clearly moved in favor of WVU-Tech as the Battlers would have a player sent off in the 58th minute.

Both teams got a few excellent scoring opportunities in the half. A-B's best opportunity came in the 54th minute as Michael McDermott found himself 1v1 with Tech's goalkeeper, Edwin Manzanero. McDermott's blast deflected off the diving goalie to go high over the crossbar.

Tech's best chance came in the 85th minute as Ionut Buse would take the pass from Mile Dragisic and blast the right footed shot off the right post.

For the game Tech out shot the Battlers 20-11. A-B goalkeeper Josh Teets came up with 10 saves between the pipes, while Manzanero stopped five for the Golden Bears.

The Battlers return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Johnstown, PA for a crucial WVIAC match against UPJ.
