Recap of the WVIAC Men's and Women's Soccer Matches for the week of 9/28 thru 10/5.



Men's:
Monday, 10/5:
Davis & Elkins earned a key WVIAC victory against archrival West Virginia Wesleyan 2-1 in overtime...Daniel Kwafo took a pass from Justin Logan and beat the keeper one-on-one for the game winner.

Saturday, 10/3:
Brett Keatley scored the match's lone goal as Davis & Elkins slipped past Seton Hill 1-0...Predrag Ivanovic and Craig Cantor notched second half goals as nationally ranked Charleston downed Wheeling Jesuit 2-0...Kurt Donaldson's goal in the 87th minute allowed West Virginia Wesleyan to manage a 1-1 tie with Shippensburg...Shane Lowery scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others to lead Shepherd to a 5-0 win over Concord.

Thursday, 10/1:
Craig Neff made eight saves, but California (PA) edged Pitt Johnstown 1-0 on an 88th minute score.

Wednesday, 9/30:
Jon DeLuca recorded his seventh shutout of the season and Mike Pistentis, Pete Merranko and Mike Oliver each scored goals as Seton Hill rolled to a 3-0 win over Shippensburg...Brett Keatley had a goal and an assist as Davis & Elkins overcame an early deficit to down Alderson-Broaddus 3-1...West Virginia Wesleyan held a 19-3 edge in shots and the Bobcats poured in four second half goals in a 5-0 success at Concord...Darko Karamatic netted two scores in Charleston's 3-0 triumph at Ohio Dominican.

Tuesday, 9/29:
District of Columbia broke open a scoreless match with an 81st minute goal as the Firebirds nipped homestanding Shepherd 1-0...Pitt-Johnstown outshot Salem International 35-2 and held a 13-1 advantage in shots on-goal as the Mountain Cats posted a 3-0 shutout win.

Women's:
Monday, 10/5:
Lake Erie built a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to deal visiting Charleston a 2-1 setback.

Saturday, 10/3:
Gemma Nortcliffe found the back of the net twice as Concord edged Shepherd 3-1...Diana Harrison scored two Pitt Johnstown goals in an attack that saw nine Lady Cats find the scoring column in a 10-1 whipping of visiting Penn State-DuBois...Mackiesh Taylor ended a double-overtime stalemate with a 102nd minute goal as Seton Hill edged Alderson-Broaddus 1-0...Jenna Forzano had 11 saves for the Griffins...Regionally ranked Indiana (PA) nipped Wheeling Jesuit 3-2 on a 99th minute overtime penalty kick...#24 Kutztown scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to edge Davis & Elkins 2-0...The loss ended D&E's eight-game win streak...Charleston suffered a 6-0 non-league defeat at Bloomsburg...Ohio Valley dropped a 9-0 verdict at California (PA).

Friday, 10/2:
Despite outshooting Clarion 6-5 and with an even 2-2 tie in shots on goal, West Virginia Wesleyan was upended 1-0 in an defensive battle.

Wednesday, 9/30:
Sarah Fyock and Cole Dant scored as Davis & Elkins blanked Charleston 2-0...West Virginia Wesleyan saw four players score single goals and held a 10-2 advantage in shots-on-goal during a 4-0 triumph against Pitt Johnstown...Brooke Logston scored the game-winner in the 81st minute as Alderson-Broaddus slipped by Rio Grande 2-1...Shippensburg pulled away from a 1-0 halftime lead to down Shepherd 4-0...Kady Daerr and Alisha Alaimo scored for Seton Hill, but it wasn't enough as the Griffins were buried by Ohio Dominican's seven-goal second half onslaught in an 8-2 setback.

Tuesday, 9/29:
Pitt Johnstown built an 8-0 halftime lead, and four Lady Cats scored two goals each in an 11-0 home rout of Salem International...Concord multi-goal games from three different players in a 9-0 pasting of Mountain State...Jessica Park notched seven saves and came out of goal to add a score, but it wasn't enough in Wheeling Jesuit's 4-1 loss to Gannon...Mercyhurst tallied two second half goals to down Ohio Valley 2-0 in non-league action.
