The Battlers wrapped up yet another 20 plus win regular season with a 76-62 win over nearby foe Davis & Elkins College. With the win the Battlers also clinched the #3 seed in the upcoming WVIAC tournament, which would delay a possible rematch with the number one team in the region West Liberty until the championship game.
The first half would be controlled by the Battlers as they would outscore the Senators by a 43-27 margin. The Battlers used defensive pressure to hold D & E to just 32 percent shooting from the floor to A-B's 48 percent. A-B also went wild in the first half as they connected on 8-16 from deep to help open up the game.
The second half would be a much more even affair as the Battlers cooled down from deep and went 3-10 beyond the arc in the second twenty minutes of play. The Senators would outscore the Battlers by four in the half which brought the final score to 76-62.
Terrel Eargle played a less than average 25 minutes but made the most of it as he scored 13 points and pulled down an impressive 17 rebounds on just another average night for the lone senior. Jamar Board the sophomore from Capital Heights, Maryland would lead all scorers with 26 points. The Battlers, with the win, improve to 22-5 overall and also improved their chances of getting an at large bid into the NCAA national tournament if they can't win the automatic bid as tournament champion.
Alderson-Broaddus will host the #14 seed Ohio Valley at Rex Pyles Arena March 2nd. Ohio Valley has already made the trek to Philippi in their only meeting this season which resulted in a 92-64 lopsided Battler victory.
