The Alderson-Broaddus women's basketball team brought 110 percent effort but it wasn't enough as the Lady Battlers dropped their third consecutive game to Davis & Elkins College.
In the first half of action A-B was the team to jump out to an early lead and went up by as many as four in the opening minutes but it would be short lived as D&E forced 20 first half turnovers as they only committed eight. D&E took advantage of the turnovers as they scored 22 points in the first half. The Lady Senators stayed committed to getting it down low to Shalisa Hill. Hill tallied 11 first half points to lead all scorers and helped win the battle of the paint 20-8. At halftime A-B found themselves down 36-26, well within striking range for the second half.
Just like in the previous two games past as soon as A-B would get the momentum D&E would respond with big shots to maintain their lead around twn points. The game never got out of control for A-B as their largest deficit came with 50 seconds left in the game as D&E went up 73-58 and that would be the final score.
A-B was lead in scoring by seniors Tori Charley and Amanda Harris with 12 points apiece. Charley also pulled down nine rebounds and had a team high four steals for the Lady Battlers.
For D&E they were lead in scoring by Hill with 19 points. Also in double digits for the Lady Senators was Teonna Jewell with 13 and Natasa Pupic chipped in 10 respecitively.
After the loss A-B dropped to 4-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play. Their next game will be at home on Thursday against conference rival West Virginia State University. The last time these two teams met up was in the first round of the WVIAC conference tourney as State bumped off the Battlers at West Virginia State.
