The Alderson-Broaddus men's basketball team kept its win streak alive Saturday night as they took down the Griffins of Seton Hill University 81-61.
A-B took the lead nearly five minutes into the game on a Jamar Board three. They would never give lead back to the Griffins in this one. After taking the lead A-B went on a 13-5 run over a five minute span to push their out to nine with 10:30 left in the opening half.
The Battlers would get their largest lead of the half as Mile Ivanic would block a shot with nine seconds left and Jamar Board would hit a three as time expired as A-B went into the locker room with a 41-25 advantage.
Board would connect on 4-6 from deep in the half and would lead all scorers with 14 points. Senior Terrell Eargle was well on pace for yet another double as he had 10 points and eight rebounds.
A-B shot a very impressive 50 percent from the floor in the first half and held the Griffins to 35 percent. The Battlers also held a dominant hand in rebounding as they posted a 23-12 advantage.
The second half of action went back and forth in the beginning but eventually A-B would pull away. The largest lead for the Battlers was with 6:48 left when Carl Buck connected on a layup to give A-B a comfortable 73-47 lead. This capped off a 10-2 Battler run which sealed the victory over the Griffins. A-B would then coast to a crucial road victory by a final score of 81-61.
Board would lead all scorers in the game with 25 points and Eargle would get his double double as he finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Eargle who is second in the nation in steals at 3.8 per game had four in this one. Board is leading the nation in threes made per game as he averages 5.1, had seven.
With the win A-B improved to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in conference.
Seton Hill was led in scoring by Justin McCoy who tallied 22. The loss dropped the Griffins to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
