Battlers Down UDC In Hoops Action

The Alderson-Broaddus men's basketball team held off a late rush from the visiting Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia to even their record at 2-2.
A-B was lead in scoring on the evening by senior Terell Eargle. The senior from Youngstown, Ohio scored 28 points but was a big contributer in other categories as well. Eargle posted nine rebounds, five assists, six steals, and connected on 11 of 15 free throws. Also having a big game was junior Mark Summerfield who has continuously shown improvement throughout the season chipped in 16 points, five rebounds, four steals, a block, and four assists.
A-B took the lead early and never gave it up. At half A-B was up comfortably 37-23 and pushed the lead to over twenty points in the second half before UDC made a late run. UDC got their defecit down to nine points before A-B pushed the lead back up over to ten points and out of reach. At the conclusion of the game the final score was in A-B's favor 85-73.
UDC was paced in scoring by Nigell Munson who amassed an impressive 33 points for the Firebirds who dropped to 0-9 overall on the season.
A-B will look for their third consecutive victory as they make the long trek to Bluefield State the 19th as Coach Zimmerman looks to put his perfect record against the Blues. The game can be heard online at www.ab.edu/gameday and can be heard locally on 91.3 WQAB. Both the men's and women's game will be broadcasted.
