A-B Volleyball Goes 1-3 in Opening Weekend

(Memphis, TN) --- The Lady Battlers Volleyball Team went 1-3 in their opening matches this past weekend hosted by Christian Brothers University.

On Friday, A-B dropped their first contest in four games to Missouri-St Louis by a score of 21-25, 25-22, 7-25 and 17-25. They were paced by Junior Amanda Check's 8 kills and Sophomore Cassie Marsh's 7 kills. Junior Setter Sam Wisbon added six kills and 25 assists.

In the 2nd match of the day, the Lady Battlers dropped a 3-0 decision to the hosts CBU, by a score of 22-25, 11-25 and 19-25. Check and Marsh again led the way with six kills a piece, and Wisbon added 26 assists.

A-B would drop the third match of the weekend to Illinois-Springfield, 3 to 0. Check, a 1st Team All-WVIAC performer last year, led the team with 14 kills, hitting at a .233%. Wisbon chipped in 20 assists.

The Lady Battlers would pick up their 1st win of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Oauchita Baptist by a score of 25-9, 25-17 and 25-20. Amanda Check again led the way with 9 kills and April Lammert had 7 kills in just 13 total attempts. Wisbon would add 23 assists, while Annie Federoff picked up 14 digs and Lindsay Hadley recorded 11.

They will return to action this weekend as they travel to Shippensburg, PA to take place in a WVIAC/PSAC crossover.
