Amanda Peoples Named WVIAC Player of the Week
Freshman Amanda Peoples from Morgantown, WV has earned her first career WVIAC honors as its most recent player of the week. She earned this by having a stellar game on the road against Central State University. Peoples posted a career high in rebounds with 17 and capped off the evening with contributing 15 points.
The Lady Battlers were on the winning side of the game 59-45 as four Lady Battler players reached double digit scoring. A-B improved to 2-6 with the victory and look to make it two in a row on December 19 as they travel with the men's squad to Bluefield State and also go for their first WVIAC victory of the young season.

Peoples Leads Lady Battlers Over Central State
The Lady Battler Basketball team secured their second win of the season at Central State in recent action by a score of 59-45.
Freshman Amanda Peoples had her best performance as a Battler with a astounding night of 15 points and 17 rebounds. It was Peoples' first double double of the season as the Lady Battlers overcame a sluggish night with 27 turnovers but their defense held Central State to only 15-59 shooting for only 25 percent for the evening.
Peoples was matched in scoring by Senior Amanda Harris as she also had six assists to go with her 15 points. Seniors Tori Charley and Caitlyn Brown also reached double digits in scoring with 12 and 10 respectively. Charley and Brown nearly joined Peoples in the double double club for the evening but fell a few rebounds short as Charley pulled down eight and Brown seven. The Lady Battlers dominated the boards on the evening as they pulled down 52 rebounds to Central State's 27.
A-B improved to 2-5 on the season and will go for their second consecutive victory against Bluefield State the 19th of December at 5:15 and will be broadcasted live on www.ab.edu/gameday and locally on 91.3 WQAB FM. It will be followed by the men's game at 7:30 and it will also be available online.

The Alderson-Broaddus men's basketball team held off a late rush from the visiting Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia to even their record at 2-2.
A-B was lead in scoring on the evening by senior Terell Eargle. The senior from Youngstown, Ohio scored 28 points but was a big contributer in other categories as well. Eargle posted nine rebounds, five assists, six steals, and connected on 11 of 15 free throws. Also having a big game was junior Mark Summerfield who has continuously shown improvement throughout the season chipped in 16 points, five rebounds, four steals, a block, and four assists.
A-B took the lead early and never gave it up. At half A-B was up comfortably 37-23 and pushed the lead to over twenty points in the second half before UDC made a late run. UDC got their defecit down to nine points before A-B pushed the lead back up over to ten points and out of reach. At the conclusion of the game the final score was in A-B's favor 85-73.
UDC was paced in scoring by Nigell Munson who amassed an impressive 33 points for the Firebirds who dropped to 0-9 overall on the season.
A-B will look for their third consecutive victory as they make the long trek to Bluefield State the 19th as Coach Zimmerman looks to put his perfect record against the Blues.
